Study Day

Pietro_GuarneriIn occasion of the Stradivarifestival the exhibition of Cremonese lutherie Bottega Italiana. Rare String Instruments of the Chi-Mei Collection will be housed in the Temporary Exhibitions Pavilion, inside of the Museo del Violino (22 September – 13 October, 2013).
In agreement with the Chi-Mei Cultural Foundation, owner of the instruments, on Thursday 26 September those will be removed from their glass cases, and participants will have the exceptional opportunity to take them, turn them in their hands and study them closely.
This kind of direct contact is rarely possible, but is the best way to fully appreciate every detail of the instruments. For the makers of new instruments, the in-depth and unmediated interaction with such a large number of past artisans will offer a unique opportunity to develop new ideas for their own work. Unavoidably, the availability of places on the workshop will be very limited. (see attached presentation).
Three work sessions, each lasting two hours, will be held: at 10 am, at 12 pm, at 2 pm. Each session will be open to 22 violin makers, by completing the registration form and sending the requested documentation to scientific@museodelviolino.org (subject: study day).
Registration ending 20.09.2013.
